# Keyboard shortcuts

> Every keyboard shortcut on a board, for macOS, Windows and Linux.

Press `?` on any board for this list, searchable. It’s generated from the same list the board’s key handling uses, so it’s always the full set.

Shortcuts don’t fire while you’re typing in a sticky, a title or a field.

## Tools

Single keys pick a tool. `Esc` goes back to Select. People with view access only have Select, Hand and Comment.

## Navigate

Getting around the board from the keyboard. These work on the shape you’re on before you select it: a ring shows which. Once it’s selected, the arrow keys nudge it and `Tab` reaches its actions instead. See [Accessibility](https://tack.social/boards/accessibility.md).

## Arrange

Aligning needs two or more shapes selected, and distributing three or more. Fitting a section to its contents needs the section selected on its own; double-clicking one of its grips does the same. See [Sections](https://tack.social/boards/sections.md#growing-and-fitting).
